MUNICH Play O2 Academy Islington 24th August 2010
MUNICH prepare for busy times ahead and get ready to play O2 Academy Islington for the Breakout Festival Showcase 2010.
Breakout Festival gives hot new bands a chance to reach a wider audience and have their music heard by a wide range of industry, fans and more.
Tickets are only £6 and they're selling fast.
In the last 3 years Brighton based MUNICH have been likend to stadium rockers The Verve and Muse and with their sound being described as anthemic stadium guitar based rock with a lot of heart. It won't be long before they're headlining their own tours.
They're about to head into the studio end of September to record their first 5 track EP with well known producer Paul Corkett (The Cure, Placebo, Nick Cave, Bjork) which they say is going to be some of their best work to date. Lead singer Slade says, "We've been finding the right time to go into the studio and record some brilliant tracks which we've been working on for a while now, we were only going to record an EP if we thought we could do it justice and now is the time".
In 2009 under the name of Maura Kincaid the band became one of the finalists of the 'Q the Music' Magazine Emerging Talent Competition. This led them to play the Queens Head stage at Glastonbury that year.
The boys have spent the past few years playing Brighton's music scene in venues such as Digital and the Concord 2 alongside the likes of Codeine Velvet Club, Chapel Club and Maccabees, and have more recently played the London scene in places such as Barfly and the Nottinghill Arts Club to name a few.
