"I'm so proud and excited to be joining the ranks of NME. The Selector is at the forefront of new, fresh, innovative British music and the NME, an iconic British musical institution, seems to be the perfect UK broadcasting home for the show." - Goldierocks, Presenter of The Selector
About The Selector
Launched by The British Council in 2001, The Selector is an international showcase for the best new music from the UK. The weekly two-hour programme covers all styles of contemporary music, from indie, grime, dubstep, folk, soul, electro and everything in between. The show also features artist interviews, mixes and exclusive studio sessions from some of the most exciting artists in the UK.
The Selector is syndicated to 20 countries around the world including Mexico, Columbia, Slovakia, Bosnia, Hungary, Indonesia, Vietnam and Armenia, and has an audience of over 1 million every week. The show exposes an international audience to new sounds and talents from the UK, and deliberately avoids the big pop names that can be heard on an average chart based show.
Friday's show on NME Radio will be the first produced by Folded Wing, an independent production company based in Clerkenwell. The Selector will be produced by John Cranmer who has previously worked across the BBC for Radio 2, 5 live, 6 Music, World Service and BBC Worldwide.
"Folded Wing are so excited to work with The British Council on The Selector radio show with DJ Goldierocks, promoting all genres of the best in UK music across the world. It will be at the heart of what we do as a company, creating high quality output with love and care and finding new platforms for the show across the globe... taking it to new heights and new audiences." - Folded Wing Director, Karen Pearson
