The box set will also include bonus video footage from the band's August 15th show at Alpine, a steeply sloping amphitheatre with an enormous lawn. Coming just before the close of Phish's 2010 summer tour, that weekend's shows marked the band's 12th and 13th appearances at the scenic venue, where all of its appearances since 2003 have been two-night stands. The music was recorded on 57 channels of digital multi-tracks, mixed and mastered in 5.1 Dolby surround and PCM stereo while the video was from a seven-camera shoot, recorded and post-edited in high definition.

Phish kicked off the August 14th concert with an exhilarating combination of "Tube > The Oh Kee Pa Ceremony > Suzy Greenberg" followed by a nod to nearby Chicago and the Alpine blues tradition with Son Seals' "Funky Bitch" featuring bassist Mike Gordon on vocals.

Other highlights included the rarity "F**k Your Face," which Phish had played on only one other occasion since 1987, a transcendent "Down With Disease" > "What's The Use" and a fiery rendition of "Scent Of A Mule." An exquisite "Bug" ended the set, followed by a "Quinn The Eskimo" encore that capped off the nearly three-hour show.

"The quartet turned in a consistent, blistering performance," said Glide Magazine's Hidden Track. "All four band members are hitting a stride and the band fed off the lively audience and vice versa. The first night of Alpine was one of those gigs that kept you guessing and when it comes to Phish that's a very good thing."

The bonus video footage from the August 15th show includes four songs from early in set one - "AC/DC Bag," a cover of Allen Toussaint's "On Your Way Down," "The Divided Sky" and "Stealing Time From The Faulty Plan" - and "Ghost" > "Theme From The Bottom" > "Big Black Furry Creature From Mars," the three-song combination that opened set two.

Fans who pre-order Alpine Valley 2010 at Phish Dry Goods will receive the free bonus CD Phish: Wisconsin Edition. Culled from the Phish Archives, this compilation features highlights from the band's Alpine performances spanning the past 14 years. Alpine Valley 2010 is currently available for pre-order (link is below).

Phish will play five New Year's week shows that will culminate with the band's first-ever New Year's Day concert.

A limited number of tickets are available to the first two evenings (December 27th & 28th at DCU Center in Worcester, MA). The run will conclude with three sold-out nights at New York City's Madison Square Garden (December 30th, 31st and January 1st).

Included in the ticket price for each specific date is a free MP3 download of the entire show (a fully mixed soundboard recording). Redeemable at LivePhish.com, the downloads will be available often within an hour of the band stepping off stage.

Last week the band wrapped up its fall tour with three sold-out shows at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. With the final night falling on Halloween, Phish played three sets, including its traditional "musical costume" set, wherein the group plays a classic album by another band. This year's selection was Waiting For Columbus, Little Feat's 1978 double live album.

Phish has released 15 studio albums as well as a series of 76 complete live concert CDs. Its series of 201 full concert downloads is currently available on livephish.com. Rolling Stone hailed the band's latest studio album, Joy, as "a genuinely great album." Recorded with Steve Lillywhite, who produced Phish's Billy Breathes (1996) and albums by U2, Dave Matthews Band and the Rolling Stones, it was the first non-archival release on JEMP Records, an independent record label created by the band in 2005.
