ATO Records will release Mike Gordon‘s new solo album, Overstep, on February 25, 2014.

Mike Gordon shared songwriting duties with guitarist and longtime collaborator Scott Murawski and handed over the producing reins for the first time in his solo career, enlisting Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, Uncle Tupelo, Pixies).

He also invited a few new players into the studio, including legendary drummer Matt Chamberlain (Jon Brion, Fiona Apple). Fans can stream “Ether,” the album’s opening track, at his Official Website (link below). Pre-order details will be announced shortly.

Gordon will celebrate the release of Overstep with a North American headline tour that will kick off at the Westcott Theatre in Syracuse, NY on February 28, 2014. The run will include shows at New York City’s Webster Hall (March 1), the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles (March 17), the historic Fillmore in San Francisco (March 18) and the Rio Theatre in Vancouver, BC (March 22).

The bassist/vocalist will be joined on the road by his longtime band – Scott Murawski (guitar), Craig Myers (percussion), Tom Cleary (keyboards) and Todd Isler (drums). The new repertoire will be augmented by hints of secret synesthetic mad scientist gadgetry on and around the stage.

A limited number of tickets are available NOW via a real-time presage. Tickets will go on sale to the public beginning Friday, December 13, 2013 at 10:00 AM ET.

Overstep is Gordon’s fourth solo album, following 2003’s Inside In, 2008’s The Green Sparrow and 2010’s Moss.

Mike Gordon is a founding member of Phish, which will wrap up 2013 with a sold-out, four-night stand at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. He has also performed with numerous other artists and released two albums with Leo Kottke.

Phish will play a four-night stand at New York City’s Madison Square Garden in December, marking the band’s fourth consecutive New Year’s run at the legendary venue.

The series of concerts will begin on Saturday, December 28, 2013 and conclude on New Year’s Eve. Phish has played 27 dates at Madison Square Garden since December 1994.

Last year, Phish transformed Madison Square Garden into a huge garden party – a tip of the hat to Rick Nelson‘s hit song “Garden Party,” which concerned his infamous 1971 appearance at the venue.

After ringing in 2013 with “Auld Lang Syne,” Phish welcomed dozens of performers to the stage, creating what Glide Magazine called “a spectacle that needs to be seen to be believed.” “It’s not the ball drop, but for tens of thousands of people, Phish’s annual run of shows at Madison Square Garden…is the more significant year-end event in Manhattan,” The New York TimesJon Pareles observed in 2011.

Ticket prices for each specific date will include a free MP3 download of the evening’s entire show (a fully mixed soundboard recording) that can be redeemed at www.LivePhish.com shortly after the band steps off stage.

Phish will kick off its first fall tour since 2010 in Hampton, VA, playing three consecutive nights at Hampton Coliseum (October 18, 19 and 20).

The East Coast run will also take the band to Rochester, NY, Glens Falls, NY, Worcester, MA, Hartford, CT and Reading, PA.

Phish will wrap up the outing with a three-night stand at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ that begins on Halloween night.

An online ticket request period for the fall tour is currently underway. Tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Thursday, August 8, 2013. For details, visit the Phish official website. Ticket prices for each specific date on the tour will include a free MP3 download of the evening’s entire show (a fully mixed soundboard recording) that can be redeemed at LivePhish.com shortly after the band steps off stage.

“Phish are in one of the best grooves of their career,” said Rolling Stone in a feature that coincided with the launch of the group’s summer tour. The band is heading west for this weekend’s shows at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA (July 26 and 27), which will both be webcast on LivePhish.com. The following weekend’s sold-out shows at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, CA (August 2 – 4) will also be webcast live. For further details, visit LivePhish.com.

Other West Coast dates include two sold-out nights at Lake Tahoe Harveys Outdoor Arena and an evening at Los Angeles’ legendary Hollywood Bowl. For the third consecutive year, Phish will wrap up its summer run with a trio of Labor Day weekend shows at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO (August 30 – September 1). See below for a complete itinerary.

“With a second year run that miraculously bested last year’s Labor Day throwdown, Dick’s [Sporting Goods Park] evidently can pull the very best out of a band that aims high every night…nearly every song in the first set saw the team patiently building on each other’s offerings, elevating spectacular moments of four-way cohesion,” observed The Denver Post’s Reverb in a look at 2012’s tour closer.

The band released two live collections in the weeks leading up this year’s summer tour: Ventura, a six-CD set that captures two full shows, recorded July 30, 1997 and July 20, 1998 at Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, California, and Live Bait Vol. 9, a nine-track compilation of live Phish performances that can currently be streamed or downloaded for free here.
