We're really not exaggerating when we say we were mesmerised by the EPs three songs - the masterfully classic "Ring On Her Finger", hauntingly bleak "Another Band Has Gone" and the aforementioned "I Held You Once" which is warm West Coast-style folk rock, wrapped in a Spector-al wall of sound.

The EP was mixed and sonically embellished by Hugo Nicolson - a key player in the seminal Boy's Own record label/collective, who also co-produced Primal Scream's classic Screamadelica and won a Grammy for his engineering work on Radiohead's In Rainbows.

Recorded over 14 months in London, Oxford and Bremen, these songs trace the development of a band and the sound that they have honed.

With a more stylised production than their equally marvellous live shows, lead singer Olly Wills comments:

"We weren't looking to catch the live performance, which is what we obsessed over in previous recordings. We wanted this to be the style of us in the studio with the time and thought that go into the process. We wanted this to be grand, to be sweeping, to be epic and to be cinematic in scope."

The Epstein have spent the past eighteen months touring the UK and Europe, playing at summer festivals including Glastonbury and Truck, as well as appearing on The Bob Harris Show on BBC Radio 2.

"Wonderful" - The Independent

"An overwhelming sense of ingeniousness and enthusiasm. There has not been a better band to come out of England this year, the Epstein play in another league - in a vast, desert like land of the soul." - Rolling Stone ****

"As engaging as Calexico and as an endearing as The Broken Family Band." - Q

"Fantastic. Light and dark woven together through intricate skill." - Tim Bearder BBC Introducing
