Young band Stereo Influence discovered by renowned producer + endorsed by Glen Matlock (The Sex Pistols) and Neville Staple (The Specials)
Stereo Influence are a Cheltenham 5-piece and the brainchild of 16 year old singer/songwriter Marcello Costantinou.
They release their debut single, the post-modernist/80s influenced "Minority" on November 7, 2011 out on Tapeworm Records/One Little Indian. It is the first single to be lifted from their debut album, The Attachment, which will be released early next year.
Stereo Influence came to the attention of noted record producer Mike Bennett (The Fall, The Specials, Ian Brown) when he popped into a barber's shop in Cheltenham for a quick trim and heard some striking rock music coming from the in-house system.
Whilst chatting with barber shop owner Costakis Costantinou, Mike discovered that the singer was the barber's 15-year-old son Marcello, who, along with a group of friends aged between 14 and 16, had been playing the local circuit, and were enjoying a considerable following.
An impressed Bennett, who had also produced and remixed the likes of Toyah, Gregory Issacs and Jimmy Cliff, whisked the group off to Paul McCartney's famous LIPA studio's, and had them record 30 tracks, which featured guest appearances from the likes of Glen Matlock (Sex Pistols), Neville Staple (The Specials), Dianne Charlemaine (Moby/Goldie), and various members of Spacemen 3, and Spiritualised.
The end result is their superb album 'The Attachment' which will be released next year.
