The perfect winter album is hushed, contemplative, and cinematic, like the soundtrack for an intense, riveting drama. Portsmouth, New Hampshire based artist Guy Capecelatro III's latest full-length, North For The Winter, out February 21, 2012 on Dromedary Records, fills the bill perfectly.
With his erudite lyrics, taken more from the literary world than the musical one, Capecelatro writes eighteen sharp vignettes full of lyrical and musical surprises.
Drawing on a lifetime of travelling and experience - Capecelatro and his mother travelled through 47 states before he reached first grade - the singer-songwriter has created a collection of songs that are about moving, but in a specific direction.
He says of the title, "North for the Winter represents a heading for the hills, a retreating into darkness, a falling away."
Capecelatro's intimate vocal conveys a world of pain and resignation with its quiet intensity. The album's welcoming measured tempo allows North For The Winter to weave a subtle, hypnotic spell that draws you deep into the melancholic worlds Capecelatro creates with his music.
Guy Capecelatro III is a prolific singer-songwriter, musical collaborator and author from New England. He has opened for Smog, Elliot Smith, and Vic Chesnutt. He has a rich history in indie bands - he's played in Unbunny, The Buckets (with Mary Lou Lord), Two Ton Santa, and more. North for the Winter is his fifth solo LP.

Praise for Guy Capecelatro III
"Werth and Capecelatro are the epitome of every songwriter's dream, and quite possibly any college undergrad's dream as well." - The New Hampshire
"Haunting indie folk that doesn't let up 'til it surrounds your soul like smoke in a pre-2001 bar. That said, you can't listen to this half-assed; it requires your full attention, or you completely miss it. You can't let its spooky subdued vibes echo out as audio wallpaper - you miss all the glory!" - The Noise Reviews
"One of the few certainties in this topsy-turvy world is that Guy Capecelatro III is out there somewhere writing songs and making music. The proli?c, Portsmouth-based singer-songwriter's latest, "The Silence of our Predicament," is another collection of lyrical stories colorfully embellished by a host of familiar Seacoast musician." - The Wire
With a unique sense of songwriting, he utilizes assorted instrumentation, a rotating group of singers, and folk storytelling to create off kilter songs. Citing in?uences that include authors as well as musicians, Guy views his writing as ?ction or stories that "end up being bulldogged into songs. - NPR Second Stage
