Ume have announced that they will be opening for Jane's Addiction at the official Lollapalooza Aftershow on Saturday August 4, 2012 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Ume was personally selected by Jane's frontman Perry Farrell to perform at the SOLD OUT concert.
Guitarist/singer Lauren Larson describes the exciting phone call from Perry:
"My cell phone rang while we were sitting by the dumpsters outside a club in Jacksonville, FL eating peanut butter on saltines. I've been dreaming of playing Lollapalooza ever since I was a kid in the early 90's wearing my brother's over-sized Lollapalooza shirts. To be called by the artist who started it all is surreal. One of the symbolisms of the word "ume" is perseverance and devotion. I'm glad we've stuck with this and never given up on our dreams."
Ume is also excited to announce the second leg of their tour with the Toadies and Helmet set to kick off on October 18, 2012 at the Rialto Theatre in Tucson, Arizona. The tour includes a stop at the Fun Fun Fun Fest in the band's hometown of Austin, Texas.
Before Ume heads back out in the road in the fall, they will head back into the studio to work on the follow-up to their debut full-length album Phantoms. Ume will be recording their new album with Grammy® Award winning producer Adam Kasper (Foo Fighters, Cat Power, Queens of the Stone Age).
Hailing from Austin, Texas, Ume is Lauren Larson (Vocals, Guitar), Eric Larson (Bass), and Rachel Fuhrer (Drums).
The trio's music is one of beautiful juxtapositions: the loud and soft, the aggressive and eerie, buoyant melodies bursting through wall-of-noise dissonance. Ume explores the artier, heavier side of indie rock, post-punk, and alternative rock. Like a bridge between Black Sabbath and Bat For Lashes, the LP is heavy, anthemic, beautiful and mesmerizing.
