Chris Cornell’s “Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart” Most Added At Triple A, Active Rock and Mainstream Rock

Chris Cornell’s debut single – “Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart” – from his forthcoming studio album Higher Truth accomplished a rare feat as it became the #1 most added single at Triple A and Active Rock, two distinctly different formats, this week. Hailed by Rolling Stone magazine as “dynamic,” “Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart” was also the #1 most added single at the Mainstream Rock format, a testament to the song and the legacy of the multiple Grammy® Award-winning, Golden Globe nominated and acclaimed singer and songwriter.

Higher Truth will be released on Friday, September 18, 2015 via Universal Music Enterprises (UMe), and fans can pre-order the deluxe version of album, which contains four bonus tracks. Produced by Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Neil Young), Higher Truth showcases Cornell’s constant evolution as a master songwriter, lyricist and musical craftsman – telling human stories which transcend musical genres. Inspired by the stark arrangements of musicians like Nick Drake, Daniel Johnston and White Album-era Beatles, Cornell creates a musical universe unlike anything he has done before.

Last week Cornell released the lyric video for the song, directed by Josh Graham. The clip beautifully reflects the essence of the song and in a few short days it has racked up over 170K views.

In other news, Cornell will kick off the Higher Truth acoustic tour on September 18, 2015 in San Diego, CA crossing North America before winding down on November 4th in Phoenix, AZ stopping at famed venues like the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Massey Hall in Toronto and more. A full list of dates can be found on his website.

Chris Cornell:

Chris Cornell is a modern icon who transcends genre. He was the chief architect of the 90s grunge movement and remains one of the most iconic rock voices of all time. Achieving multi-platinum success with three legendary bands selling over 30 million records worldwide – he has forged his own unique identity over three decades as a Grammy award-winning, Golden Globe nominated singer, songwriter, guitarist, composer and lyricist. His career began with Seattle trailblazers Soundgarden, whose wild soundscapes combined visceral punk attitude with artistic depth. Powerfully original, they were the first of their generation of Seattle bands to sign to a major label in 1989 and their work continued to evolve over the course of seven groundbreaking albums. Soundgarden made a historic return to the live stage in 2010 and have since toured the world, releasing the all-new studio album, KING ANIMAL, to widespread acclaim.

Cornell has continually redefined his sound and vision. In 1990, side project Temple of the Dog saw him experiment with a more soulful style alongside the future members of Pearl Jam. Later in the decade, his critically acclaimed solo album EUPHORIA MORNING combined lush melody and instrumentation with lyrics which spoke of alienation and despair. And as the millennium turned, he joined with three other musical pioneers from Rage Against the Machine to create supergroup Audioslave. The multi-platinum band released three albums and toured stadiums around the world, becoming the first American rock group to perform a massive free concert in Castro’s Cuba. Cornell has also collaborated with many different artists, most recently the Zac Brown Band on their single “Heavy Is The Head”, which peaked at #1 on rock radio in the US.

His soundtrack work has spanned both big budget and independent cinema. He was the first male American artist to write and perform the theme song for a James Bond movie (“You Know My Name” for Casino Royale). With Soundgarden, he wrote the end title song “Live To Rise” for The Avengers, the 3rd highest grossing film of all time. He duetted with Joy Williams on his song “Misery Chain” which appeared on the soundtrack of the Oscar-winning 12 Years A Slave and his song “The Keeper” from Marc Forster’s Machine Gun Preacher was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2012.

Cornell’s recent solo acoustic ‘Songbook’ tour attracted sellout crowds and critical acclaim worldwide. Jim Farber of the New York Daily News observed, “sometimes you don’t recognize the full power of a voice until you strip everything away from it.” The tour’s reinterpretations of classic Cornell songs are featured on his 2011 live album of the same name.

Cornell will reissue his first solo album Euphoria Mourning (with original title) on August 14th. The album will be remastered and re-released for vinyl for the first time.

Cornell has also become involved in philanthropy, using music to support causes that help foster change. The Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation is currently raising funds and partnering with charitable organizations to mobilize support for children facing problems including homelessness, poverty, abuse and neglect.

#6 TOP 200 ALBUMS CHART

Single “I’d Rather Have A Love” Is A Top 5 Hit At Urban AC Radio

Multi-platinum selling R&B singer/songwriter/producer Joe debuts at #1 on the Billboard R&B Albums Chart, #1 on the Billboard Independent Albums Chart, #4 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Albums Chart and #6 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart selling 31,500 copies of DoubleBack: Evolution of R&B the first week.

DoubleBack also received ‘Editors Choice’ on iTunes, and became the #8 album overall and #1 R&B album. Released via the newly formed Massenburg Media, helmed by industry heavyweight Kedar Massenburg, DoubleBack: Evolution of R&B is Joe’s tenth studio album in twenty years, and as declared by USA Today, his “soulful vocals and inviting grooves show his passion is still there.”

DoubleBack already spawned a #4 radio hit and climbing at Urban AC with the first single “I’d Rather Have A Love.” The video for the smooth sexy song, which was directed by renowned music video and film director Hype Williams, can be seen on VH1 Soul, BET’s Centric, MTV Jams, and Music Choice.

Joe – I’d Rather Have a Love video:

More than half of the album was written, produced and or arranged by the soulful crooner himself, and Joe also enlisted superstar producers Stargate (Ne-Yo, Beyonce) and DOA (Tyrese, Wale) to collaborate on the new album.

DoubleBack features West Coast rapper Too Short on “1 to 1 Ratio,” and a duet with Grammy-award winning artist Fantasia for the standout track “Love & Sex.” DoubleBack: Evolution of R&B is available now in all digital platforms, and in 3 versions of the CD including a standard 12 track disc, 2 bonus tracks with Target, and Best Buy’s version touts the remix of “I’d Rather Have A Love” featuring Terror Squad leader Fat Joe.

In a recent interview with Vibe Joe shared the one thing he wants to bring back to R&B is “class.” When describing the meaning behind the album’s title and the style of the project, Joe stated that this was “an ode’ to classic R&B. I double backed to when music was heard with live horns, live strings, and live drums, to a time when soul music was very stylish and elegant.”

Joe has become one of R&B’s most accomplished and popular singers over the course of his career, and has received numerous accolades including Grammy nominations for his 4x platinum album My Name Is Joe. Singles such as “All The Things (Your Man Won’t Do),” “All That I Am,” “No One Comes Close” and “I Wanna Know” established Joe as a bona fide hit maker who sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. Moreover, Joe is a sought-after collaborator who has worked with some of music’s biggest and best artists including Mariah Carey (“Thank God I Found You”), Big Pun (“Still Not A Player”) Nas (“Get To Know Me”), 50 Cent (“Ride With You”) and G-Unit (“Wanna Get To Know You”). His 2001 hit song “Stutter” feat. Mystikal remained #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 4 weeks.

Joe’s last three albums were released independently and each debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Independent Chart. His 2011 independent release entitled The Good, The Bad, The Sexy debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 and #2 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop albums chart.

Denise Lopez “Don’t You Wanna Be Mine” review

Denise Lopez

I’ve been listening to the Denise Lopez “Don’t You Wanna Be Mine” dance single and remixes set for release 16th June, 2008 on House Trained Records. I don’t recall hearing the track when it was originally released in the US in 1990, but that was awhile ago…and it hasn’t really received much airplay since then.

Apparently, though, “Don’t You Wanna Be Mine” was an underground dance anthem here in the UK. I’m actually quite surprised that it only reached #86 on the Billboard Dance Chart. Even with the help from famous production duo Robert Clivilles and (the late) David Cole from C&C Music Factory – which was a BIG name back then – it still didn’t come anywhere near top 10 or even top 20.

“Don’t You Wanna Be Mine” is a great dance track and Denise Lopez’s vocals are top notch. It’s good to see that it’s getting another chance with the release of a fresh modern remix in June, and is sure to be a huge hit in the clubs this summer.
