Western Civ to release Remington Steel Magnolia

Alabama-based indie rockers Western Civ will release their second disc, Remington Steel Magnolia on April 5th. Following outstanding critical reviews for their debut EP, 2005’s Regent Kingfish Slumberpad, the quartet set to work on a full-length that represents something of a departure from Slumberpad’s jagged, brooding moodiness - this time they’ve emerged from Dying Breed Studios with a record full of heavy, catchy hooks and instantly-addictive melodies. But don’t worry, there’s still plenty of disjointed feedback driven guitar.

Recorded and mixed by Misty Dawn during 2006, Remington Steel Magnolia contains eleven tracks bearing such cryptic titles as “Secret Lives of Viceroys” and “Punish The Audience”. Magnolia also features original cover art by Wendy Joyce Cabler.

Western Civ’s lineup of Rich Henderson, Jason Briggs, Bryan Cabler, and Jason Hall remains unchanged, as does the group’s determination to bring their sonic fantasies to life on disc. “It seemed like it took a long time to put the record together,” admits Cabler, “but that was only because people responded so favorably to the Slumberpad EP that we found ourselves getting not only radio play, but also opportunities to play live in places like Manhattan and St. Louis, which of course delayed our work on the record. It’s great to have it finished, because it represents most of what you’d hear at one of our shows these days.”

Remington Steel Magnolia will be on sale at CDbaby.com, Digstation.com, itunes.com and many record shops on the East Coast. Thanks to Super D Distribution most record stores can order copies directly.  If you don’t see it on the shelf of your favorite music store, just ask them to order
it from Super D. Western Civ plans to tour extensively in support of the release, embarking on a March tour in advance of the release date that will include stops in New York City, Chicago, Ann Arbor, MI and Austin, TX.
