Acclaimed Athens, GA trio The Whigs have premiered their new album Enjoy The Company on Paste Magazine. Listen to this exciting new record a week before it's September 18, 2012 release (link below).
The Whigs will return to The Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday, September 25, to perform their new single "Waiting".
The Whigs have caught the attention of countless fans and critics for what The New York Times praises as "two-chord guitar and drums furor worthy of The Who." Rolling Stone calls The Whigs "a fiery, young and timelessly tuneful rock trio" while NPR simply calls them "amazingly good." Vanity Fair says they "sound like a whiskey-soaked bolt of electricity coming through your speakers ... no fuss chord progressions, the constant stammer of crash cymbals ... it's hard to deny their pop sensibilities, which is what makes them instantly likeable." The Chicago Tribune raves The Whigs "mix feisty licks, catchy hooks and twangy melodies into a Southern garage-rock stew that begs to be heard live."
A band known for their explosive live show and on-stage passion, The Whigs are currently on a three-month national headlining tour that will include a performance at this year's Austin City Limits Music Festival.
The band spent most of 2010 and 2011 on the road with the Kings Of Leon and Black Keys (to name a few), performed for the Armed Forces on a USO tour of Germany and the UK, and captivated concertgoers with stage-stealing performances at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Fuji Rock and T in The Park.
Enjoy The Company features ten tracks of pure celebratory rock and roll fueled by the rhythms of the road, the classic albums that inspired the trio and nights spent together on stage.
From the exhilarating opening track "Staying Alive," the joyous guitar hooks of "Tiny Treasures" and the spirited hard riffing of "Rock And Roll Forever," Enjoy The Company - from beginning to end - builds with exploding drums and power chords that offer listeners a powerful sonic rendering of a band opening up to the depth of their past and kicking open the doors to their future.
Produced by John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr, Son Volt, Sonic Youth) in the solitude of Dreamland Studios, a historic church in rural Woodstock, New York, Enjoy The Company is the band's first record for New West Records.
Pre-order the album on iTunes or Amazon.
