R.E.M. is set to release their new studio album ‘Accelerate’ on March 31st, 2008 in the UK (US April 1). ‘Accelerate’ will be the band’s first LP since 2004’s ‘Around the Sun’, and is one of the most hotly anticipated albums of the year.
Recorded in Dublin, Vancouver and Athens with Grammy Award-winning Producer Jacknife Lee (U2, Bloc Party, Snow Patrol, Kasabian) it follows a 5-night residency at Dublin’s Olmypia Theatre, July 2007, where they roadtested the LP’s early demos.
R.E.M. will be playing this year’s SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas at Stubbs Bar-B-Q on March 12, 2008.
