Singer-songwriter/author and "Musical poet" (San Francisco Chronicle) David Berkeley has written and recorded a song for New York Times bestselling author Harlan Coben's new thriller Shelter. The track of the same name is currently being promoted in tandem with the book.
The collaboration is the result of much correspondence and mutual admiration.
After a character in Harlan Coban's 2010 novel Caught listens to the track "High Heels & All" by David Berkeley, David wrote Harlan to thank him and sent Harlan his new album, Some Kind Of Cure. Harlan then used a lyric from David's song "Parachute" in his follow-up Live Wire.
Berkeley recounts the tale, "It was kind of proposed as a joke after I told him that I wrote 'Fire Sign' for an episode of Without A Trace, that I might write a song for one of his books. We weren't sure that had ever been done before. But then he sent me an advance of Shelter, and the song more or less wrote itself."
