Following the tremendous initial success of Bob Seger's Early Seger Vol. 1 at Michigan-based retailer Meijer, Seger is broadening distribution of the album from beyond its Michigan introduction to Walmart, the nation's largest retailer.

Starting Tuesday, March 23, 2010, the collection will be available at all Walmart stores across the U.S. Early Seger Vol. 1, which features remastered classic Seger recordings from the early 1970s and four previously unreleased recordings, was originally released exclusively at Meijer, a Michigan-based retailer with 190 supercenters located in the Midwest.
The set has been warmly received by fans and critics alike.
The response at Meijer was so strong that Early Seger Vol. 1 was the #1 record at Meijer stores the week of Thanksgiving, outselling phenomenon Susan Boyle's highly anticipated album, released on the same day, by nearly 2 - 1 at Meijer's.
"Several early-Seventies nuggets - including the Chuck Berry-style blazer 'Get Out Of Denver,' Seger's burnt-road-dog growl in the Allman Brothers cover 'Midnight Rider' and the brassed-up locomotion of 'Long Song Comin' (with new overdubs) - highlight Seger's funky-church and Detroit-muscle charge," said Rolling Stone's David Fricke, naming it one of "Fricke's Picks."
The Detroit Free Press awarded the album four out of four stars, praising its "Vintage rock 'n' roll, barroom balladry and soulful Southern rock" while the Cleveland Scene noted that its songs "reaffirm the strength of classic rock 'n' roll." "Whether it's a ballad or a rocker, the material here, to quote one title, 'Gets Ya Pumpin'," said Vintage Guitar.
Surprising many industry insiders, Bob Seger's Greatest Hits came in #1 as Catalog Album of The Decade 2000 - 2009 (Billboard). Released in 1994, the compilation is packed with classic Seger songs such as "Roll Me Away," "Night Moves," "Turn the Page," "Hollywood Nights," "Old Time Rock & Roll," "Against the Wind" and "Like a Rock."
A new interactive feature, Live on 75, has been launched on Seger's official website, www.BobSeger.com.
Take a ride up and down Interstate I-75 with the band and log thousands of miles criss-crossing the country in their beat up station wagon. Inside, behind the scenes road stories from various Seger personnel pop up as users roll over the map. The map provides fans the opportunity to fill in and submit their own stories as to what really happens on the road.
