Mat Riviere releases a new EP 'Evening Drive' on March 29, 2010.
The song is a bleak, cryptic tale set over malevolent, gunning synths and a stark rhythm. It is the second single to be taken from Riviere's debut album 'Follow Your Heart', released on Brainlove Records.
Riviere is already a breakthrough artist for 2010. NME call his music "genius bleak pop", and the blog and webzine response has illustrated an international appeal.

His last single FYH received 1500 downloads in just a few days via the RCRD-LBL site, and was debuted on Radio 1 by Huw Stephens. Riviere also supported Memory Tapes in front of a capacity crowd at his debut London show.
Watch Evening Drive video:
The EP contains a stunning orchestral reworking of live favourite "The Give In" by Bleeding Heart Narrative, and two reworkings of the title track by electronica wizard Levyashin and post-rock stalwarts The Monroe Transfer. Also included is a new track entitled "Stars Hollow". The video, by Michael Page, is available now.
PRESS:
"Genius bleak pop" - NME
"One of the most haunting and mesmerising spectacles you will catch... simply fantastic" - Artrocker
"A Leftfield reminder that pop can be dark, theatrical and imaginative" - Loud & Quiet
"Doom laden pop with reverb strings" - Drowned In Sound
"Sparse but intense songs, heavy on atmosphere and melody... a pop maverick for the future." - The National Student Newspaper
"FYH has wonky electronics, deadpan vocals, insistent thrum, sort of like a lo-fi Interpol gone wrong. I mean this as a good thing. Interpol are boring. Mat Riviere isn't." - The Daily Growl
"Delightfully doleful drone-pop." - Pinglewood
"If Interpol's bid for artistic recognition had failed and they decided to go their separate ways and just carry on being miserable alone, they might sound something like Mat Riviere... synths that sound like sherbet but taste like warm tears." - RCRD-LBL
"Solo eccentrica from the UK's DIY mecca, Norwich" - Plan B
"Apocalyptic, atonal drone." - Reykjavik Grapevine
"Glitchy, lo-fi, minimal pop heartaches... the newest signing to Brainlove Records bears his soul with a gorgeous collection of laconic, tragic songs" - The Line Of Best Fit
"Mat Riviere is the best thing to happen to Norwich since that damn castle was erected. He straddles the honesty that Yoni Wolf created with Why? whilst firmly taking a stand for thoughtful and creative lo-fi music. He makes us swoon." - The 405
"'FYH' resembles Why? with its gothic atmosphere and stark vocal delivery. It's an attention-grabber." - Muso's Guide
"His Jamie Stewart-ish vocal drone mixed with off kilter and broken sample beats turned more than a few ears. Think Casiotone's even more deadpan little bro, a beaten up keyboard giving it one last blast and a bloody good chorus." - Neu Magazine
