Murder Mystery give away two FREE downloads

I'm writing today about two new singles from my band, the New York indie pop/rock group Murder Mystery.

Murder Mystery

After a critically acclaimed, self-released debut (Village Voice, My Old Kentucky Blog, Pop Candy, Album of the Year on Crawdaddy.com), we're back with some free downloads to show what we've been up to.

The new songs are in a similar vain to our previous single "Love Astronaut," a minor viral sensation that produced numerous fan videos and enough blog posts to put us on the Hype Machine charts in '08.

The first, "I Am (If You Are)" is the debut lead vocal performance of our drummer and my sister, Laura Coleman. It sounds to me like an unlikely collaboration between Stereolab and Madonna, layering pulsing synths, shimmering guitars and dancey percussions on a foundation of pop songwriting to create what is scientifically referred to as a "Summer Jam."

The second, "Change My Mind," combines the instantly accessible song craft of the Cure and Belle & Sebastian with the warm, bouncy synths of Aphex Twin's Ambient Works.

As I mentioned, we are offering these two songs as free downloads, so I hope you'll download and enjoy!
