The Knocks release Magic EP, single + Weezer Cruise January 19-23 [Stream Track]

The Knocks

Every good night out must have a soundtrack and NYC-based producers turned electro-hip-pop duo, The Knocks, are pleased to provide it.

The pair will release their new EP Magic on December 6th, 2011, via A&M/Octone.

Title track "Magic," which features British singer/producer Gary Go, has premiered on NylonMag.com.

The Knocks premiere new single "Brightside" [Stream Track]

The new song comes one month after lead single "Brightside" lit up dance floors when the band leaked it on Soundcloud, immediately climbing to the Top 5 on Hype Machine and #1 on the Hype Machine Twitter Chart.

The video for the song will premiere on VEVO December 1st. "Brightside" is out now on iTunes, and features remixes from Fred Falke, DiscoTech, Lenno, and Jaybird.

Featuring production by Victor Van Vugt (Fischerspooner, PJ Harvey, Nick Cave), Fab Dupont (Shakira, Mark Ronson, Jennifer Lopez), and Gary Go (Benny Benassi), the six-track Magic EP is a multifaceted exploration into what drives us to get up, out and on our feet. The songs dive into that magic hour - hence the EP title - that unmistakable mix of energy and anticipation that is about to lead to an unforgettable night on the town. The Knocks - Ben "B-Roc" Ruttner and James "JPatt" Patterson - make electronic music sound organic, installing a soul amongst all the ones and zeros.

With a nu-disco vibe, club-friendly beats, glorious choruses and piano hooks, it's clear to see why they have become one of the most buzzed-about duos on the dance circuit.

Shortly after the NME declared The Knocks to be one of the "20 hottest producers in music" for their versatile production and remix work for the likes of Rihanna, Ellie Goulding, Foster The People, Chiddy Bang and Katy Perry, the NME was once again singing their praises for a slightly different reason, saying that the duo has "stepped out from behind the desk to rebirth the Superstar DJ." Lately The Knocks have been electrifying the blogosphere and the clubs both in the U.S. and overseas with their own songs. Now comes Magic.

The title track and EP opener slowly blooms into warm harmonies, anchored by a percolating beat and steady, hand-struck drums. "R.O.Y.L" is a nu-disco nod with a touch of Motown vocals. "The Prize" opens on an off-kilter synth line before becoming a four-on-the-floor banger. "Dancing with the DJ," a four-minute funk jam with skittering house beats come right before "All We Got" brings the EP to a close. The electro slow jam features Kardinal Offishall, and a staggering melody puncturing through the reverb-drenched vocals.

The Knocks just announced a 9-date run of UK shows with DJ Shadow beginning November 28th, and will head out on the high seas for the Weezer Cruise from January 19-23. The Knocks will be sailing alongside Weezer, Wavves, Dinsosaur Jr., Sleeper Agent and many more incredible bands for a cruise from Miami to the island of Cozumel off the Gulf Coast of Mexico. Performances will happen on stages around the ship, festival-style - just wear your life jacket during The Knocks set incase the dancing gets too out of control.

"Cred-pop's answer to the Neptunes are kicking the living shit out of the Big Apple's loft raves right now…they are scientists of swagger" - NME

"…DJ B-Roc and Mr. JPatt constantly jazz up popular tracks with piano pounds and booty-shaking sounds… destined for every indie iPod, from New York to Bermuda!" - New York Post

"They don't write songs so much as anthems, sort of midway between high street and hip, David Guetta and Daft Punk." - The Guardian
