Fletcher “Open Up” single release December 2nd from the debut album ‘Upon Ayr’ out now on Dramatico

Having charmed listeners with his stunning debut single “Don’t Breathe A Word’, Fletcher returns with the beautifully introspective folk-inspired ode to youth, “Open Up”. This is the second single from Fletcher’s sensitive and wonderfully crafted debut album ‘Upon Ayr’.

Full of moving soundscapes and otherworldly imagery each song is written with the ‘authenticity and feeling’ of a true folk musician. The album explores the many shades of human emotions regarding love, youth and the idealisation of home through tenderly melancholic and stunningly honest melodies.

“Open Up” is a deeply personal coming of age single for the artist, performed with thoughtful acoustic simplicity to accent the heartfelt sincerity of Fletcher’s story-telling style. Drawing inspiration from his life and Tom Wolfe’s literary protagonist Eugene Gant, Fletcher’s achingly expressive voice enhances lyrics that perfectly capture the romance of new beginnings and the harsh reality of impending adulthood.

As Fletcher explains, “I left home when I was 15 and really started living; I felt my life ‘open up’. But there’s a strange joyful/terrifying realisation you get when you discover that You Can’t Go Home Again.”

The accompanying video perfectly complements the new release. Inspired by Cesar Kuriyama’s “1 second every day” project, Fletcher’s video for “Open Up” captures a series of one-second snippets from 9 months in his life.

As Fletcher explains, “Open Up starts with the line: ‘That was your life in the flash of an eye, a burst of colour and a slow decline…’. I wanted to try and capture that sentiment in tiny segments of my life as it is with all the bells and whistles and rust and loves and all the humdrum of daily realities that make up our time here. As the great Bueller once said: Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it…This video is me stopping and looking around.”

Fletcher – Open Up video:

‘Upon Ayr’ was a true labour of love having developed over a number of years whilst Fletcher was on tour – created during a series of clandestine ‘stolen’ sessions in a Sydney university, in the bathroom of his London flat, mixed in Stockholm and mastered in Berlin. The multi-talented Fletcher performs most of the instruments on the album and is joined on four songs by the voice of multi-award winning artist Sarah Blasko. The record has earned spot plays on BBC Radio 2 and air time regionally and across Europe.

Fletcher is an artist ‘who has certainly done his time at the school of music credibility’ having been a founding member of Bluebottle Kiss and The Devoted Few before joining ‘one of Australia’s finest artists’ Sarah Blasko’s band in 2005 to tour the world. Most recently he showcased his solo project in London, delighted commuters with a performance on The Station Sessions and secured slots at The Great Escape and Dot to Dot Festival (Manchester).

If you’re looking for a genuine, honest, unpretentious, life-affirming album, look no further than Upon Ayr – Whisperin n Hollerin

..beautifully written and honestly produced – For Folk’s Sake

..swirly, haunting and utterly bewitching – The Music Fix

As close to a perfect debut record as you will ever hear – Female First

A high quality debut album from a talented performer – Glasswerk

Sally Seltmann

Australian singer/songwriter and multi-intrumentalist Sally Seltmann, who has just signed to the Lojinx label, releases a new single “Billy” – a taster from her forthcoming album, due for release in March 2014.

Sally, who formerly performed under the moniker “New Buffalo”, is perhaps best known for having co-written Feist‘s hit “1234”, but she has also had her songs covered by several other artists, including Bon Iver. She is also a member of Seeker Lover Keeper alongside Sarah Blasko and Holly Throsby.

When Sally commenced writing for her new album she knew she wanted to create a collection of songs that expressed the full spectrum of human emotions. “Billy” with its captivating melody, is a time-honoured tale of a woman lamenting the loss of her beloved man, and is the first in a series of songs that offer listeners a thrilling emotional journey.

The song is accompanied by a video directed by Nelson Alves, which reflects the bittersweet sentiment of the song and its haunting chorus.

Sally Seltmann – “Billy” video:

The forthcoming album was recorded and produced with Sally’s husband Darren Seltmann (The Avalanches) in their attic studio and features performances from an array of talented guest musicians. It will be released in March on Lojinx in Europe, Arts & Crafts in North America, Rallye in Japan and Caroline/Universal in Australia.

Nina Persson (The Cardigans) to release new album ‘Animal Heart’ – watch video

Nina Persson

One of Sweden’s biggest, brightest pop stars, Nina Persson, is about to release her first solo album under her own name.

The hotly anticipated ‘Animal Heart’ will be released in the UK on the Lojinx label on February 10th 2014.

The title track “Animal Heart” is the first taster from the album and is available as a single now. See the brilliant video below:

Nina Persson – Animal Heart video:

This is the first solo release from Nina, and her first album out since she, Niclas Frisk and Nathan Larson released “Colonia” as A Camp in 2009. Her other band, The Cardigans, have not released an album since 2005.

“Animal Heart” was written and produced by Nina along with her husband film composer & novelist Nathan Larson (A Camp, Shudder To Think) and Eric D. Johnson (The Shins, Fruit Bats).

“The most difficult and maybe also the best thing about going solo is probably all the decisions you make alone. Somewhere inside, I have a very clear clock, a gut feeling, that says what I think. I have forced myself to just keep going and follow only my gut with this album. I have simply no time to dwell on things anymore which I did a lot before,” says Nina.

Since The Cardigans’ last album and the two critically acclaimed albums by A Camp, Nina has performed as part of The Citizens Band, featured on the Sparklehouse/Danger Mouse collaboration “Dark Night Of The Soul” and started a family.

The goods news is that “Animal Heart” – the album and single – see Nina back on form with the return of her wonderfully distinctive voice carrying finely crafted songs. Perhaps unsurprisingly, themes include moving forward without getting caught in the past in addition to the perennial topics of relationships and alienation.

Nina has recently been playing a few select shows with The Cardigans in various parts of the world and will be over to the UK to play solo dates in early 2014.

Meanwhile, “Animal Heart”, the album, is something truly exciting to look forward to in 2014.

Highly Acclaimed Film Reveals Portrait of Stevie Nicks As She Collaborates with Dave Stewart on the Fascinating Journey of Creating Her First Album in a Decade

Stevie Nicks To Appear at DVD Signing at Barnes & Noble at The Grove in Hollywood on December 4, 2013 7:00 pm

Rock legend Stevie Nicks, fresh off of Fleetwood Mac‘s sold out worldwide tour, will be releasing her intimate DVD documentary “In Your Dreams,” it was confirmed by Warner Bros. Records.

“In Your Dreams” is a portrait of the illusive Nicks as she and Dave Stewart embark on a musical journey to write and record the critically acclaimed “In Your Dreams” CD , Nicks’ first studio album in over a decade. Nicks called this “the greatest year of my life” and felt compelled to share the joyful experience with her fans.

The DVD is currently available for pre orders. The limited edition deluxe dvd bundle that included a DVD personally signed by Nicks, a handwritten individually numbered limited edition of a letter by Nicks and never-before seen photos has already sold out its 1000 copy limit.

Co-produced and co-directed by musical wizard Dave Stewart, “In Your Dreams” was shown at The Hamptons International Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival, SXSW and Toronto Film Festival, and had a theatrical release in 53 cities.

The inner life of the legendary Nicks has by her design long been kept at a distance from the public.. We learn in “Dreams” that her world features costume parties, elaborate dinner feasts, tap dancing, fantasy creations and revealing songwriting and recording sessions all of which are captured on film.

Fans will also get to see cameo appearances by Edgar Alllan Poe, Mick Fleetwood, Reese Witherspoon, a massive white stallion in the backyard, owls and naturally a few vampires who appear in several “home movie” style music videos.

Along with tracking the Nicks/Stewart creative partnership, “In Your Dreams” has plenty of other cinematic payoffs including rare never before seen personal scrapbook stills from Nicks’ childhood and a wealth of candid backstage and performance shots taken over the last 35 years.

The documentary was produced by Dave Stewart’s Weapons of Mass Entertainment.

Stevie is scheduled to appear at a DVD signing in Los Angeles on December 4, 2013 at Barnes & Noble at The Grove in Hollywood at 7:00 pm.

Nashville’s Jenn Bostic Back In UK For 11-Date Tour

November 26th – December 10th 2013

On the heels of having her single “Missin’ a Man” playlisted at BBC Radio 2, Nashville-based singer/songwriter Jenn Bostic has announced 11 UK dates, starting at London’s Borderline on 26th November.

“Missin’ a Man” is the third song from her album ‘Jealous’ to earn Radio 2 support. Debut single “Jealous of the Angels” reached Number 1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart and was championed by Smooth Radio and Radio 2 while subsequent single “Not Yet” achieved A-List rotation on Radio 2 as well as plays on Magic and Smooth Radio. Produced by Barrett Yertesian (Christina Perri, Andy Grammer) “Jealous of the Angels” is a loving tribute to Jenn’s late father.

“Jealous of the Angels” is so real, and Jenn is so real, and that kind of honesty is rare. Working with her is truly an incredible experience. I was honoured to be a part of a song so close to her heart.” – Barrett Yeretsian

The song created ripples throughout the UK gaining attention from those who had lost a loved one and being able to relate to the pain that Jenn shared so openly. With radio and critical success and more than 50,000 sold – all as an independent release, it garnered press from The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Mirror, You magazine and many more. The video for “Jealous of the Angels” has had more than 1.4 million YouTube views and Jenn appeared on national TV on the coveted BBC Breakfast show.

Part of Nashville’s burgeoning DIY scene, Jenn’s music career began when she was 10 years old, in the back seat of her father’s car with her older brother on the way to school. A horrific crash that killed her dad, a musician who taught her folk songs like “Sunny Side of the Street”, and turned her on to Emmylou Harris and Bonnie Raitt, changed her life forever. “The first time I sat down at the piano after the accident, I shut my eyes and honestly felt my dad’s presence next to me,” she explains. “I poured my heart into those first few songs. The only way I could connect with him was when I played music. I still feel that way.”

Bostic’s upcoming performances, which also include appearances in Southampton, Glasgow, York, Manchester and Liverpool, among other U.K. cities, will feature special guests Emma Stevens (named iTunes’ Best of 2013 So Far), Daisy Chapman and Jack Omer.

Jenn Bostic won five 2012 Independent Country Music Association Awards, including Overall Winner, Best Female Artist, Best Musician, Best Songwriter and Song of the Year for “Jealous of the Angels.”
