Iain Crummie (aka Crum, Crumbalina, Crumbobsquarepants, Crumblestiltskin …) is a singer/songwriter based up in Newcastle. Originally appearing under the pseudonym ‘The Reckless General’, but he quickly realised that people could remember the name Crummie far more easily than half a paragraph, so he wandered back to his birth name, however silly it may sound.
After two years spent gigging in Tokyo and Sapporo, Crum returned to Newcastle to record the culmination of 12 months’ work. What initially started out as a demo quickly escalated with the arrival of Patrick Lawrence (violin - also of The Eiderdowns) and Bill Harbottle (piano) into a full on spangly 6 track EP which is available off his own record label, Reckless General Records www.therecklessgeneral.co.uk, or the usual culprits of iTunes, Napster and Rhapsody.
Crum is currently focused in the North-East with gigs in Newcastle and Gateshead but occassionally packs his passport for a voyage to the bright lights of Londres and has appeared at such woo woo places as Covent Garden and is planning more trips soon.
Crum’s musical influences range from Jack Johnson and Damien Rice to I am Kloot and Badly Drawn Boy, so if that sounds like your cup of tea, do have a wander along to www.therecklessgeneral.co.uk where you can listen to the songs, check out gig dates and loads of other stuff.
