Toronto's Cyclone Records has been pushing it's artist roster for some time now and it's certainly starting to pay off with artist and label recognition.
After releasing critically acclaimed CD's such as Inner Surge's "Signals Screaming", Pitch Union's "Mohawk Clock Machine, and Creature Republic's "Watch Your Aim" as well as garnering some major attention in the podcast and online radio community, Cyclone Records has launched it's very own podcast "Eye of the Storm".
Featured on episode 1 was alternative rock band Creature Republic, who have recently released the first installment of their upcoming album "Apparitions", which was recorded in Calgary studio Sundae Sound. The power of the internet is playing a huge part of the production of the album as all tracks are being sent to Toronto electronically for mixing and mastering. Distribution is through digital download and promotion is via podcasting. Having been influenced by bands such as Queens Of The Stone Age, Audioslave, Alice In Chains and Incubus, Creature Republic's blend of hard rock, melody, funky beats and a female lead vocalist certainly delivers a unique and cutting-edge sound. More on Creature Republic can be found at www.creaturerepublic.com.
Also featured on episode 1 was hard rock act Pitch Union with a popular track from their album "Mohawk Clock Machine", which is now in it's third pressing. Allen Christie is featured as well.
Episode 2 features politically charged metal/punk rockers Inner Surge. The band talks about the making of their new album "Signals Screaming", as well as their new music video for "Retribution Song". The video is currently available for download at www.cabrassoundtrack.com and is gaining popularity on video podcasts and websites such as myspace.com and youtube.com. The band has appeared in Garry Sharpe-Young's book "New Wave of American Heavy Metal" alongside Dillinger Escape Plan and Mastodon, and recently played Calgary's Warped Tour 2006 with Helmet, Misery Signals and AFI. The "Eye of the Storm" podcast gives a preview of their new album and also features tracks from Good Question and Kane Hodder. For more on Inner Surge visit their official site at www.innersurge.com
