I Feel Like Dancing With the Scissor Sisters and the Guillemots

Scissor Sisters - Ta Dah!The Scissor Sisters have been making quite a name for themselves with most of their shows being sold out on their current UK tour. They’ve been together since 2001, but I wasn’t made aware of them until a couple years ago when their #1 debut album, Scissor Sisters came out with chart toppers like “Take Your Mama”, “Laura” and “Mary”. The English obviously took a shine to them immediately but from what I’ve been told it’s not quite the same story for the New York based band in the states. Either way though, they’ve done it again with their second album, ‘Ta Dah’ and in September went straight to #1 in the UK charts not only with the album but also with their latest single, “I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’” which was co-written with Elton John.

Their support act on the first half of their UK tour has been the London based band Guillemots who came on to the scene this year with a Mercury Music Prize nomination as well as touring in both the US and the UK including shows at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, and the more recent BBC Electric Proms.

We were happy to hear that they were touring with the Scissor Sisters as we’ve been watching the Guillemots become more well known since they began. They are an incredible bunch of musicians and as I’ve mentioned here before, Dave and I make an appearance in their video for Trains to Brazil. We’re in the horn section miming away behind the band!
