Trey Anastasio talks Phish and upcoming tour dates

Trey AnastasioSince Phish played their last show together back in 2004, I'm always interested to see what the guys have been getting up to with their latest musical activities. When Jon Fishman from Phish graciously added his superb drumming to my CD project a few years ago, it was then that I realized that not only how great a drummer he is, but how much time and passion he and his fellow band members dedicated to Phish. They're clever musicians and there are a lot of fans waiting on the edge of their seats, wondering if Phish will ever get back together.

The other night Trey Anastasio appeared at the Kaufman Concert Hall at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan for an onstage interview which was moderated by Anthony DeCurtis from Rolling Stone Magazine. During the interview Anthony talked to Trey about his recent arrest for drug possession which I suppose was something Trey would have been prepared for.

Trey went on to perform a couple songs "Wherever You Find It" and "A Case of Ice and Snow" and they also talked about his music with questions from the audience, including "the inevitable question: Are there plans for a Phish reunion?"

Trey's response was, "I would be the happiest person in the world." In the meantime he says he hopes to do more work with the Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh."

So he's not saying yes and he's not saying no. Fair enough, and in time a Phish reunion could very well happen and I wouldn't be surprised. Only time will tell, and I'm sure it all depends on a few different factors whether or not it will happen.

In the meantime, fans are lucky to be able to keep up with the other Phish members too. Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon and Page McConnell continue to play music for various other projects as well, post Phish. Usually the Official Phish Website adds updates.
