Kava Kava – ‘Forwards’ album + music on Xbox game Stoked

Kava Kava - Pat Fulgoni

Kava Kava, who hail from Yorkshire UK, are releasing their first US album ‘Forwards’ this spring on Midnight Swimming. However, the group are not strangers to the US market and have been a featured artist on several hit TV shows such as Weeds, Dirt, and John From Cincinnati.

Their latest project was working with the popular Xbox video game Stoked. Two different tracks and one remix by Kava Kava are played throughout the game as well as on the website.

Stoked with Kava Kava “NFA” video on YouTube:

Alt Culture describes their sound as, “Kava Kava has created a musical chimera that is equal parts P-Funk and Roxy Music, as indebted to Stax soul and the Philly sound as it is to the Manchester beat and Brian Eno.”

The lead singer, Pat Fulgoni, has done quite a few collaborations on his own, lending his voice to several songs released by Hospital Records and Subliminal Soup Records. The single “Beliefs” off of Nu:Tones’s ‘Back of Beyond’ album reached #17 on the singles chart in the UK and featured vocals by Pat.

The album ‘Forwards’ will be released digitally on June 23, 2009 and on vinyl late July/early August.

Hybrid Magazine said “Cool grooves, phat beats, funky sounds. Awesome feel-good music…Funky, heavy synth, Brit R&B Hip-Hop dance vibe.”
