Southway packs his Suitcase with third album release

Southway - Suitcase

The British American singer-songwriter Southway is set to release his rocking third album titled Suitcase.

Of his latest release Southway said, "I hope [Suitcase] encourages people to pick up their case, get on a plane and really see what's out there in the world".

The third full-length offering from British born songwriter Southway was recorded in a variety of hotel rooms and bedrooms in South Korea whilst touring Asia.

On Suitcase, Southway a seasoned multi-instrumentalist/producer and longtime San Francisco resident, exposes his powerful voice and songwriting expertise from a palette of raucous guitars reminiscent of the glory days of Britpop before Radiohead discovered drum machines and the Gallagher brothers Oasis had bank accounts. The resulting 11 tracks are fueled by the road and lost love, but with Southway's perpetual optimism, there's always a chance that good times are right round the corner.

Suitcase is a hungry album, a people pleaser eager to quench the thirst of those in need of driving rock with a purpose. Revealing Southway's honest reflections of life in a modern world where global travel has become commonplace, the album rocks, pops and rolls from high energy Britpop anthems like "Pure Gypsy Soul" to the more reflective, sensitive and infectiously catchy "Hit or Miss".

Southway's Biography

Southway moved to the US in 1995 leaving behind his hometown of Bristol, England. In search of a new base, he couch surfed his way across the country passing through most major US cities before settling in Venice Beach, California. Having spent many years in England playing clubs, pubs and bars, he decided to focus on writing and recording so he set up a studio in the back room of his house in the bad part of Venice. The next few years brought new musical collaborators and new gear into the mix, giving rise to a period of rhythmic, dance orientated compositions under the pseudonym of 'Pilot'.

In 1999, 'Pilot' signed to San Francisco's Mud records, releasing 12” vinyl mixes and playing to crowds of club goers in the blossoming dance culture of LA and San Francisco. In 2002, Southway relocated to San Francisco focusing his work as a solo multi-instrumentalist/producer, leading to the release of his debut ELECTROGANIC in 2004 as well as producing bands and artists in the bay area working from his studio South of Market (SoMa). In 2007, he released his second album, SoMaPoP.

In addition to the US, he is currently promoting his latest release in the UK and Asia with interviews on the BBC and commercial stations in Britain as well as Arirang Radio, South Korea's premier Radio and TV network. Dates in Asia have shown continued success in the East, with performances in Seoul, Hong Kong and Bangkok.

Following a US tour this fall with shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York, Southway will return home to the US this winter and relocate to the birthplace of American music, New Orleans, Louisiana to continue the promotion of Suitcase and start working on its follow-up.
