Hat Trick Of Lions (Come On England) - Jeff Christie, Aggi Dukes

Forty years on, Jeff Christie hit "Yellow River" transformed into 2010 World Cup Anthem

Hat Trick Of Lions (Come On England)

In 1970, Jeff Christie topped the charts with the hit "Yellow River", reaching number 1 in the UK charts and in 26 other countries, eventually entering the hall of fame as a rock/pop classic. "Yellow River" has been covered by Elton John and REM and won the Ivor Novello for most played song - the same accolade Lily Allen won this year.

This year, four decades later, Jeff has teamed up with producer David Robertson and "Yellow River" has been adapted into an unofficial World Cup anthem for the England football team!

Forty years ago, when "Yellow River" topped the UK charts for three weeks, the song it knocked off the perch was "Back Home", the official World Cup song for the English team, who were then the reigning world champions.

This year, for the first time ever in English football, there will be no official song.

As the FIFA World Cup 2010 kicks off in South Africa, the England team's chances have been spurred on by the track "Hat Trick of Lions (Come on England)".

The track boasts a veritable who's who of the UK's finest Reggae and Ska performers and musicians.

Mafia and Fluxy - Drum and Bass duo are the UK's premier Ska/Reggae rhythm section, having worked on a regular basis with the Skatalites and the Ethiopians who were responsible for the Ska invasion in the early 60's that left an indelible mark on football.

The brass hooks are supplied by Matic Horn's heavyweight Henry 'Buttons' Tenyue who has worked with Aswad, UB40 and Godfather of soul James Brown.

Up and coming UK underground rapper Aggi Dukes adds a hip-hop kick that summarises our love for the game.

This time aimed at the football fraternity, the new track will have a pulsating grip on the nation this summer.

The title "Come on England" is symbolic of how far England has come on since the early immigrant days; this is now evident in our multi-cultural society.

The base concept of the new track was to include the rich ethnic diversity of the England fan base.

Ska was selected on the basis that it was the first ethnic music to influence the British charts and become affiliated with football, with tracks like Liquidator '007' being played at football grounds ever since.

This fantastic authentic record fuses the familiar sounds of Ska with an English classic hit and is set to bring together both young and old across a terrace of different cultures, united in the chant 'Come on England!'

The single is available to buy on iTunes now.
