Kärtsy to release Duty Freedom 14th February 2011
The first melodic rock-pop album from the leader of the Finnish cross over monster Waltari
Kärtsy is the brilliant new Finnish rock outfit set to release his debut album Duty Freedom in the UK. Kartsy is addictive rock at its finest. The album will be available from the 14th February 2011 on IVK Music Finland.
Kärtsy has been previously known as part of the group Waltari who enjoyed a long-lasting illustrious career. The band were a successful Finnish rock band which mixed musical influences from new wave, progressive rock, with humorous undertones but still keeping with original rebel-ish rock-and-roll/punk attitude. The band were known for being endlessly creative, open minded, musically innovative and proved to be widely successful with over 10 extensive European tours and great chart success in their homeland. The band is still going strong, but Kartsy has been pursuing solo projects for a couple of years now.
With this album, his first UK release, Kartsy set out, as he explains in his own words to: "step out from my role as a weirdo cross over hob gobbling, living like a fairytale figure. I wanted to step out towards the people, I wanted to start to seek the truth from YOU, the life around me, from life itself".
Style-wise Duty Freedom sits somewhere between Foo Fighters and Paramore. All songs feature Kärtsy's remarkable sound and he teamed up with local talent; young Finnish musicians with fresh sound and attitude. The album showcases songs that posses an interesting cocktail of experienced musical knowledge combined with young fresh energy from the emo-/ modern rock scene, as he puts it: "This is my way to fight against the death of rock music".
Kärtsy's persona and his music embody powerful, energetic dynamism, who on stage as well as on record, he gives everything he's got with each and every chord. This guy really knows how to rock! With his new live line-up of talented new blood from the local Finnish cutting edge rock scene, he will be touring throughout this year and next. Duty Freedom will be released on 14th February 2011 on IVK music.
