Now, Now sign to Chris Walla's Trans-Records

Offer MP3 From New Album

Trans-Records and Now, Now are excited to announce the release of their sophomore full-length album Threads, due out March 6th 2012.

Produced by Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, An Horse, New Pornographers), Threads is a sprawling sonic endeavor. On the album, vulnerable vocals give way to oceans of sound retaining definition via deftly layered guitar parts augmented by lingering synths, which alternate between background and center stage.

As a first listen to the record they are releasing the song "Dead Oaks" to fans.

This past June, Now, Now, composed of Cacie Dalager (Vocals, Guitar), Jess Abbott (Vocals, Guitar), and Brad Hale (Drums, Synth) packed up their van and drove 1800 miles across North America to record with Redekopp in Vancouver, BC. It was with great anticipation and some nervous energy that they approached the new album. "Since we hadn't released a full-length in so long," explains Hale in reference to their 2009 debut Cars, "we wanted to make sure we were all loving everything about it before we went all the way out there to record."

During the recording Now, Now could tell they were hitting their stride for the first time. "We killed ourselves over Threads," notes Dalager. "That sounds dramatic, but everything about it was excruciating in a good way. Every little idea was worked to its best."

It was earlier that spring that they'd begun to solidify a relationship with Trans-Records founder and Death Cab For Cutie guitarist/producer Chris Walla, who had become a fan of the band through their earlier releases.

At SXSW 2011 Walla came to each of their shows, helped them lug gear and even talked a police officer out of giving them a parking ticket. With mutual admiration all around, it was natural for Now, Now to sign to Walla's label, paving the way for the coming release of Threads. "In working with Chris and his label," explains Abbott, "we've been given a lot of freedom to make sure we're happy with the music."

With the album complete, Now, Now are excited for a big 2012. They plan to tour the country extensively in support of Threads, including stops at SXSW and summer festivals along the way.
