Bastille post new video for single "Flaws" (out October 22, 2012)

The new video, directed by Austin Peters (Haim, 'Forever') has now been made available to view.

The story picks up where the video for previous single "Bad Blood" left off, with drowned lead singer Dan Smith now washed up on a beach in New York, surrounded by NYPD officers. The video sees him make the acquaintance of Warriors-esque skeleton girls before roaming around the famously bizarre setting of Coney Island and its amusement parks.

Bastille - Flaws video:

Dan talks about his first time starring in a Bastille video:

"I never really wanted to be in a video, but loved the idea of going to New York and Coney Island. It's such an iconic place in my mind having seen it in films like "Requiem For a Dream" and "Warriors", and being able to go to the US definitely made up for having to be in front of the camera."

Live fan favourite, "Flaws" is Bastille's third single release on Virgin Records. It was originally heard by fans when lead singer/songwriter and producer Dan Smith uploaded a makeshift D.I.Y video for the track, piecing together footage from Terence Malick's 1973 classic 'Badlands'. It has had over half a million views on YouTube.

"I've gotten so used to [the original Flaws video] that I couldn't imagine the song accompanied by anything else. We found it hard to decide on a new idea for a song we're so attached to whilst trying to do something completely different to the old video."

Like many Bastille songs, Flaws was written and initially recorded by Dan in his bedroom on an old laptop, and it is based around the thoughts and emotions of characters who exist solely in the universe of the song. Like Regina Spektor, Dan's songs are his stories; vehicles to muse on things he wants to talk about and this seems to resonate with bands fans, who find a personal element to the music.

Bastille have appeared at more than thirty festivals this summer and recently played a storming set to a packed out tent at Reading Festival, 3000 fans, arms aloft singing along to all the words. Straight after their set Bastille appeared on BBC3 performing an acoustic version of their last single "BadBlood" and were trending on twitter after their performance.

Having sold out their first ever headline tour, Bastille continue to sell out shows across the UK and recently announced their second headline tour.

Despite only releasing two singles, the band have already sold out London's Koko as well as dates in Manchester and Birmingham seven weeks upfront. Full dates for the October tour are below.

With so much momentum and their debut album released early next year, it seems like Bastille are leading the pack as one of the major players of 2013.
