Brooklyn-based duo The Hundred in the Hands are set to release their This Desert EP May 17, 2010 on Warp Records, preceded by their first UK shows of the year.
This Desert strikes a path that touches on elegant French pop, blissed out dub, house and post-punk. The 6-track EP sets the stage for deeper explorations on a full-length this Autumn.

The Hundred in the Hands is Jason Friedman and Eleanore Everdell. The recently-signed group makes emotionally charged and intensely driving music, which harks back to the most classic of dance songs from NYC's storied underground.
Listen to music:
The band describes the EP as, "The more ethereal, gauzy side of our tastes; the Summertime-Gothic and dreamy tracks we made thinking they'd go well with open hydrants and looks that kill." But The Hundred in the Hands' self-description belies more than just a dance band. Everdell and Friedman bend and blend styles, sounds and eras into something that doesn't feel confused, fake or forced. It just feels fun.
This Desert EP will follow on the heels of its forthcoming "Dressed in Dresden" remixes 12" (out April 5th). The critically acclaimed single comes packed with huge remixes from Detroit techno wunderkind Kyle Hall, London bass maestros Various (aka Various Production) and NYC-via-Paris party monster Maxime for diverse contributions to the original song's expansive verve.
NME alternately describes it as a "Polyrhythmic beauty" and "Nonchalant vocals, juddering guitars with rumbling doom bass..." and Q Magazine adds, "You really can't help but fall in love with this track."
The band will celebrate the release of the single with a show at Santos Party House, New York on April 6th, ably accompanied by James F**king Friedman, Max Pask, Jacques Renault and The Rapture (DJ set).
The forthcoming This Desert EP - along with the "Dresden" remixes - makes clear the band's lauded single merely scratches the surface of their varied sensibilities.
