Lenka’s “The Show” single featured in New In Town (Renee Zellweger) movie trailer, watch video + tour dates

Epic recording artist Lenka will launch a headlining tour of North America on January 10, 2009. The tour is in support of her self-titled solo debut, which jumped onto iTunes’ Top 10 Albums chart just days after its release this past September and reached the No. 3 spot on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers chart.

She’ll perform the album’s first single, “The Show”, on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on January 8th.

Now it can be heard in the trailer for the upcoming feature film New In Town, which stars Renée Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr., due out January 30th.

Tapped as an iTunes “Single of the Week” earlier this year, “The Show” has reached Top 25 at Hot AC radio. “The Show” was one of Clear Channel’s top 5 Hot AC tracks of 2008. In addition, Lenka was featured as Clear Channel’s “NEW! Artist to Watch” in September.

The accompanying video, which has surpassed 500,000 plays on YouTube, has been added at VH1 (in its top rotation, Gung Ho), MTV Hits and Nickelodeon’s The N. “The Show” received massive exposure in Old Navy’s back-to-school advertising campaign and the fall promotional campaign for ABC’s “Ugly Betty.”

Digital singles and album sales have soared after Lenka’s TV performances (”Late Night with Conan O’Brien, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson”) and use of her songs in shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “90210.”

Lenka, former vocalist for the acclaimed Australian electronic/ambient band Decoder Ring, is a VH1 “You Oughta Know Artist.” She’s been featured in Blender, Spin, Entertainment Weekly, Vanity Fair, Marie Claire and Teen Vogue, performed on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic” and recently wrapped up a series of dates on the latest Hotel Café tour. She’ll be doing a CBS Radio AT&T Blue Room session in early 2009.
