Adam Goldberg's first album, 2009's Eros and Omissions released under the LANDy moniker, received overwhelming praise. Vanity Fair admired its "lush, moody John Lennon vibe," while Blackbook declared it "assured, fractured and, at times, downright nasty, the album swells and shivers like a forlorn lover lost in a downpour."

Goldberg, whose music is described by Billboard as "layered soundscapes that range from moody electro to subtle dream-pop," retired the LANDy moniker for The Goldberg Sisters when, as he puts it, "LANDy was a very particular period of recordings which I sort of named after the fact - but before I discovered Landy Cognac, Landy Insurance Company and Taiwanese pop sensation Landy Wen."

Unlike the LANDy record, which was compiled from six years worth of recordings and features various guests and collaborators including Steven Drozd (Flaming Lips) and Aaron Espinoza (Earlimart), The Goldberg Sisters' self-titled album was recorded in a span of six weeks with a single group of musicians at Espinoza's The Ship Studio in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles. Goldberg wrote all the songs on the record.

The album was co-produced by Goldberg and Espinoza, whom Goldberg first met in 2008 when he approached Espinoza to mix the LANDy record. The Fader calls their collaboration "a melodic, piano-centric indie pop pairing."

Much of the template for the new record was established during the LANDy sessions, which exhibits Goldberg's infatuation with analog gear in conjunction with the limitless potential of a modern Pro Tools studio, a combination that Goldberg refers to as "psychotropic pop." Goldberg explains, "there is a lot of Space Echo, a lot of Echoplex on this record. Lots of effects pedals and '70s synth pads. But also layers of actual strings and horns played by humans, functioning as a mini-orchestra." He cites such disparate references as Burt Bacharach and Tony Visconti as production influences.

Goldberg's interest in music stretches back as far as his acting credits. While beginning his acclaimed acting career with memorable roles in Dazed & Confused, Saving Private Ryan, and a recurring role on Friends, Goldberg was simultaneously playing in bands and making home recordings on a Tascam 4-track.

As his film career flourished, Goldberg devoted more time to his music, writing a song for the film Hebrew Hammer, in which he also starred, as well as composing and performing the score alongside Steven Drozd for his 2005 directorial effort I Love Your Work. Prior to that, Goldberg wrote and performed the music for his IFC special Running with the Bulls.

"Goldberg's sonically layered art-pop reflects his curiosity as both a songwriter and a knob-twiddler." - Los Angeles Times

"Ambitious and atmospheric…" - Entertainment Weekly
