Looking to build on the critical acclaim received for their first EP 'When We Were 17', Sheffield's Dead Like Harry release their eagerly anticipated debut album 'Know The Joy Of Good Living' through The Label Records on Monday April 26, 2010.
Dead Like Harry has successfully combined a soulful Americana rock sound (that tips its hat firmly in the direction of Bruce Springsteen's E-Street Band) with an English pop dynamic to produce a joyous and heartfelt celebration of honest and romantic song-writing.
Vocalists Sam Taylor and Alice Faraday both possess beautifully warm voices that weave a vivid and poetic lyrical tapestry over lovingly crafted guitar pop melodies. In essence 'Know The Joy Of Good Living' is a lyrical and musical journey through love, loss, hope and desire.
Recorded and produced by legendary Sheffield music man Alan Smyth (Arctic Monkeys, Reverend and the Makers, Richard Hawley, Pulp) the band literally paid for the album in blood and sweat, spending two months helping Alan renovate and rebuild his new 2-Fly Studios in return for recording time!
Having already played at Glastonbury Festival in 2009 (courtesy of Q Magazine), receiving high praise from various national newspapers and music magazines, being play listed and featured on BBC Radio 2 and selling over 5000 copies of their debut EP, Dead Like Harry release 'Know The Joy Of Good Living' with the intention of really making 2010 a year to remember.
Praise for the band's 'When We Were 17' EP:
"Each track is a wonderfully crafted love letter to a romanticised reality somewhere between Sheffield and Arizona. Gaslight what? Bruce who? It seems the real cowboys live just south of Barnsley." - The Sun
"A well-crafted, grown-up and thoroughly enjoyable strain of pop and all the better for it." - Alan Jackson, The Times
