The world’s most successful operatic quartet topped the UK album charts for the third time, completing a memorable hat-trick as captivating new album ‘The Promise’ beat off competition from Stereophonics and Girls Aloud to clinch the number 1 spot.

It’s the latest in a long line of successes for Il Divo, whose previous albums ‘Il Divo’, ‘Ancora’ and ‘Siempre’ have sold over 22 million copies, scoring 36 no. 1 chart positions across 26 countries.
The number 1 caps an incredible week for Il Divo, who gave a scintillating performance at London’s St Luke’s Church on Tuesday night to be broadcast Friday December 12th, 2008 as part of Radio 2’s Friday music night series. In the past seven days the group have also appeared on GMTV, This Morning and Children In Need.
Staged and choreographed by William Baker (Kylie, Jamiroquai), Il Divo’s spectacular 2009 world tour begins at Manchester’s MEN Arena Saturday February 21, 2009, visiting 22 European cities (including 9 UK arena dates) followed by a 3 month North American tour before closing the year in Australia, Japan and South East Asia.
