Orbital

GuilFest's already amazing line-up for July 16, 17, 18 just gets better and better with the announcement of the Friday night headline slot.

Orbital, the grand masters of British Electronica, who have notched up 14 top 40 singles, (2 of which went Top 3) and 7 Top 40 albums (3 of which went Top 5) will be bringing their legendary live set to Stoke Park for the first time at GuilFest 2010 on Friday 16th July.

Orbital, who formed in 1989 are creators of some of the best known UK dance anthems in musical history; most notably "Chime", "Style", "Belfast", "The Box" and "Satan". Named after the London ring road that took their generation to illegal raves, the Hartnoll brothers from Sevenoaks are considered to be true innovators of techno music.

They have worked with a hugely diverse group of collaborative artists including Alison Goldfrapp and Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammet, and have also performed remix duties for such icons as Madonna, Queen Latifah and (their all time heroes) Kraftwerk. Orbital have won a reliable reputation for hugely exciting live performances, whether headlining massive festival stages at Glastonbury, Woodstock, Lollapalooza etc. or multiple sold-out nights at venues such as Brixton Academy and The Royal Albert Hall.

Their 1994 Glastonbury performance even earned the band a Q magazine award as one of the 50 greatest gigs of all time, and this year they are well deserved winners of DJ Magazine's 'Live Act Of The Year' Award 2009 as voted by the public.

The band joins already announced headliners The Human League and Status Quo, who will perform on Saturday 17th July, and Sunday 18th July respectively.

Other festival attractions include the nationally acclaimed Dance Tent, nominated for "Best Dance Event" award at the 2009 UK festival awards (a stage that has seen past performances from Pendulum, DJ Yoda, Krafty Kuts and Xpress2 amongst others), the Rock Cave, the Acoustic Stage, The Rock Disco, the 70s disco, the eFestivals Cosmic Comedy Stage, The Man In The Moon Theatre Tent, The UNISONzone, and the incredibly popular Farmer Giles' Barn Dance.

As well as all this you can expect superb cocktail bars, street performers, great arts and crafts, a fabulous selection of food from around the world and, as usual, the massive 150' long bar means nobody has to wait very long for refreshment!

Children will find the KidZone by far the best to date with loads of fun, games, theatre and activities, not to mention the face painting!

Facilities adjacent to Stoke Park include The Guildford Lido which is only 2 minutes walk and The Spectrum Leisure Centre, great for hot showers, sauna or a swim. The historic town is itself only 10 minutes walk away and has shops, cafes restaurants, bars and pubs galore; Guildford even has its own castle! Guildford is only 35 minutes on the train from London Waterloo and only 10 minutes by car from the m25.

GuilFest 2010 looks set to be the most successful to date and tickets are selling fast so get your tickets quick!
