Formed in 2004 by four percussionists the band have played everywhere from the Royal Opera House to the Camden Jazz Café, their music draws on numerous influences - from the frosty minimalism of Steve Reich to the salsa-infused rhythms of Chano Pozo.

These sounds are captured perfectly on their EP In Between Instruments which is out this week but it's live that the group really shine. A mass of flailing limbs, syncopated beats and majestic marimba, their breathtaking live show has been wowing crowds in recital halls and nightclubs alike.

Supporting Sankorfa will be London based artist Jono McCleery, who recently signed to Ninja Tune after independently releasing his debut album 'Darkest Light' in 2008. The album was self-produced and funded by his fans, including folk-star Vashti Bunyan and BBC radio DJs Tom Robinson and Fiona Talkington. He has previously supported Fink, Little Dragon, Carleen Anderson, Portico Quartet, Tricky, Jamie Woon and Newton Faulkner.
