Between Two Lions full-length album released July 14th 2006

'Put This City On My Shoulders'
The debut full-length album released July 14th 2006.

"Between Two Lions' new record, Put This City on My Shoulders, is 45 minutes worth of alt-country magic. The smoky, jukebox ballads stand up alongside the best of Whiskytown and early My Morning Jacket." – Louisville Eccentric Observer

"This is rock from a small town in Indiana, and it sounds the way good rock from a small town should sound. It's not rushed, not obnoxious or overbearing, and it's very pretty" – Pulver Radio

These are just a few snippets of praise from the media who are hailing Between Two Lions to be at the forefront of what spectators are calling…talent. Between Two Lions have not let this hype get in the way of a good thing, simply stating, "when we created the album, we wanted to put together songs that we'd want to hear – songs that our friends and other people would like."

'Put This City On My Shoulders' is Between Two Lions first full-length album and tells the story of someone growing up in a small town; leaving to explore the world; then returning, resigned to the fact that he can never truly leave; and finally embracing that fact. Lyricist Brent Engle's feeling of attachment to the region is a common thread throughout his writing on the record.

After several short-lived incarnations, Between Two Lions settled into a trio in 2004 consisting of Engle (vocals, guitars, and harmonica), Eric Moore (drums, percussion) and Todd Corley (bass guitar) and released their self-titled EP that same year to local acclaim from both critics and fans alike. Since this release Between Two Lions have evolved, not only in the conscription of Corley's brother, Tim (pedal steel guitar and electric guitar), but also in their overall sound, as Engle states, "the last record was a pretty straight forward pop and roots rock album with few exceptions, while 'Put This City On My Shoulders' lends itself at times to more folk and country rock sounds."

With members coming from different musical backgrounds and drawing influences from sources just as varied, the band has made a record that blurs the line between the alternative rock and country genres with an artist's precision.

Now after time in the studio with producer Duane Lundy (VHS or Beta, Parlour Boys) the band are ready to deliver and 'Put This City On My Shoulders' is their calling card. Engle affectionately sings in the album's concluding track, "I know I can lean on this town / when the time is right / and when the time is right / I'll put this city on my shoulders," this album is sure to do more than that, in fact, it will put New Albany on the map.
