Emerson Hart - Cigarettes and GasolineEmerson Hart is a singer and songwriter first introduced to many as that voice from the band Tonic singing the melodic lyrics to their hit song, “If You Could Only See”. I love that song. I also love to crank it up and sing along to it whenever it comes on the radio.

It’s great to see that Emerson Hart, who co-founded Tonic in the mid-’90s, is now set to release his debut solo album, Cigarettes and Gasoline on July 17th 2007 on EMI/Manhattan Records.

The first single off of Cigarettes and Gasoline, “If You’re Gonna Leave”, recently debuted at #37 on the Hot AC Charts. “Friend To A Stranger” also off of the debut album has already been featured in national promos for ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and in the opening sequence of an episode of CW’s One Tree Hill.

I watched Emerson Hart’s video promo for Cigarettes and Gasoline and learned quite a few things about him that I hadn’t known. He talks about his songwriting process and how certain events in his life have inspired his songs for his debut solo album. There are also a couple clips of him playing live.
