Pete and the Pirates have written, directed and edited two videos to go with their two brand new tracks – “Jennifer” and “Blood Gets Thin” – released on January 19th, 2009 (digital download only).
The videos were shot over two days back to back in London. The video for “Blood Gets Thin” (shot at Ealing Film Studios) has an eerie feel to and is almost Frank Miller comic book-esque with its strict use of the colours – white, black and blood red. Oh yes, plenty of blood..
“Jennifer” (filmed in an East London hospital), is set in a very surreal operating theatre and features lead singer Thomas Sanders going under the knife surrounded by host of the NHS’s most weird and wonderful medics and staff.
You can download both videos from www.babelgum.com, which will also feature an exclusive Pete and the Pirates live gig and a previously unreleased short film also written and directed by the band.
Having stormed all the summer festivals last year, Pirates have been touring non-stop through Europe and just managed to record these new songs during a small break at the end of the year. Released as much as a thank you to their fans as to satisfy their own creative drive, “Jennifer” and “Blood Gets Thin” are the first new tracks the band recorded as they start writing the follow up to their critically acclaimed debut ‘Little Death’.
Both tracks were recorded with producer Dave Allen – most noted for his work with The Cure.
The album ‘Little Death’ is out now
