Deathray Trebuchay are a dynamic six-piece from East London who expertly fuse punk and death-jazz with Balkan brass to create something that’s cathartic, high-octane, and hugely enjoyable.

Their debut single “Number 6”, produced by Mercury nominated drummer Seb Rochford (Polar Bear, Acoustic Ladyland) is set for release 27th April, 2009 and having played a string of festival dates this summer including Glade, Latitude, Bestival and Secret Garden it now seems that Deathray Trebuchay are poised for something very special indeed.

The band consists of 6 members: Llywelyn ap Myrddin (Vocals, Keys, and composition), Jim Slade (Sax), Ryan Jacob (Trumpet), Alan Hardiman (Trombone), Guy Wood (Drums) and Spencer Brown (Bass).

The idea behind Deathray Trebuchay was originally conceived by lead singer and classically trained composer Llywelyn ap Myrddin whilst travelling across the Balkans to the Guca Trumpet festival. The festival, devoted to turbo charged gypsy trumpet music played all night and all day inspired Llywelyn to turn his dreams into reality and form a group that would blend all his influences from the worlds of jazz, gypsy, ska, punk and indie rock.

To see this band live is to truly understand what makes them such an incredible force, creating almost feverish levels of excitement wherever they play. Make no mistake about Deathray Trebuchay: this isn’t spectator’s music; this is music that demands your full participation, its frenetic rhythms commanding full control of your limbs and new single “Number 6″ is a taste of greatness to come.
