I have been following this young lady’s career for a few years now and every time I have the opportunity to review one of her new projects, whether its music or film, I enjoy it immensely. The one important factor that is putting this woman in the public eye more every time out is that she continues to develop her craft and become stronger and more effective.
This is a step away from Natalia’s previous jazz style; actually, it is the polar opposite. That is not an easy thing to do, its risqué and it can jeopardize the career of an artist. Fortunately, Natalia is so early in her career that experimenting is all part of the growth and stretching out that people would expect. It works out very well.
Fashion is a pop-dance-electronica masterpiece from a diva that will be international star soon. In fact, I would venture to say that this recording should carve a path for her success now and in the future. The production quality is top-notch on this album and every track offers something different. Natalia’s voice is alluring, mysterious, and sexy, she has it all going on to make each tune a special adventure, on the dance floor, and in your mind’s eye.
The first track “Excuse” has a pounding dark rhythm and beat that strongly suggests that practice makes perfect, and whether you win or lose there are no excuses. So the premise is there is no excuse not to make it if you work hard, well, there is a little more to it than that, you have to listen to all the lyrics. Some screaming guitar lines are in just the right places to make this track as effective as it could possibly be. That track is my pick for a single along with is “Love and Loyalty,” which invites you to have old-fashioned values with a little spice stirred in for excitement. “At The Matinee” would be a perfect track for a suspenseful thriller type if flick. This lady knows how to use her suggestive powers and her voice has that enthralling European accent that is hard to resist. If a polished production with heart palpitating grooves, thumping bass, and a voice behind the sound that will make you melt is what appeals to you then you will love this CD.
Fashion is a powerful musical statement for today’s world and it should put Natalia Nazarova on the musical map rather quickly. Watch this one; she is a star on the rise.
