Jamie Oliver protege Tim Kay signs to Warner Music and Rhino Records

Tim Kay

When talented singer-songwriter Tim Kay moved to London and got a job waiting tables at Jamie Oliver's restaurant Fifteen to pay the bills, he had no idea that it would lead to him landing the record deal of his dreams with Warner Music and Rhino Records - but that is precisely what has happened and the story looks set to be one of the great tabloid tales of 2008.

After meeting Jamie Oliver a couple of times during work at the restaurant, Tim plucked up the courage to hand him a demo of his music. Jamie was totally blown away by Tim's self-penned soulful acoustic tunes and arranged for Tim to play a gig in front of the rest of the staff.

Once again the response was phenomenal and Jamie was so impressed that he had the idea of approaching his producers to see if there was any way of getting Tim's music on his show. The result was that Tim's track "My World" was chosen as the theme for 'Jamie At Home' and since then momentum has been building behind the track and the response from the public has been quite remarkable.

First Jo Whiley played the track on air after listeners enquired who it was by and the catchy, acoustic track won people's affection every time it was played on television. Now the tune is available through Warner Music subsidiary Rhino Records and looks set to be the soundtrack to many people's summers.

What no one has so far realised is that Jamie Oliver even took the time out of his busy schedule to plays drums on "My World" and the single looks set to have a life of its own when it is released on 2nd June, 2008.
