The Medic Droid

Formed in Phoenix, AZ, in 2006, The Medic Droid consist of three musicians who swap duties, taking turns programming beats, playing guitar, and playing synthesizer.

Led by vocalist Chris Donathon, the group fuses techno and emo to make commercially viable club music that could easily be passed off as Fall Out Boy with a vocoder and a copy of Reason.

Using MySpace’s marketing power, the trio established its Internet presence by gaining over 100,000 friends, and in 2008 indie label Modern Art took notice, signed the group, and made plans to release its debut, ‘What’s Your Medium‘, out now.

The Medic Droid On Uncensored Interview

Watch “Killer Anna” video on FUSE’s The Worm

“Sturdy hooks anchor the eight-song debut, the best of which received prior release as singles, like the pulsing anomie of ‘Keeping Up With The Jonses,’ the slinky industrial pickup ode, ‘FScene 8′ and ‘Fer Sure,’ with its demand, ‘F*** me in the backseat.’ - Alternative Press

“The song that got the band noticed starts with the lyric “Fer sure maybe, fer sure not / fer sure eh, fer sure bomb” in a sing-song voice akin to comedic singer Kelly of “Shoes” fame. Near the end of a song is a break into Internet speak and gossipy chatter, with the lyrics “JKJKJK LOLOL / I heart your f***ing makeup / oh my god I love your hair!” Donathon’s vocals are heavily digitized throughout the album, which has elements of pop, punk, dance and electronica. Both band members mention the Locust and Blood Brothers as strong influences, but say they’re inspired by dance music as well.” - Billboard.com
