Dead Smiling Pirates Debut

Advertisements

Dead Smiling PiratesThey’re dead pirates, but they are smiling…so what’s up with that? Ok what they really are is a rock-punk outfit from over the hills and far away, more specifically form Copenhagen Denmark. Dead Smiling Pirates are an authoritative trio consisting of Kim Burmeister (vocals/guitars), Erik Aaberg (drums), and Lasse Hansen (bass).

On their self-titled debut, they have a little more emphasis on the punk and attitude than the power trio aspect of it all and their CD speaks for itself through eleven tracks that hammer home their tongue in cheek lyrics.

This is high-energy music with more than suggestive lyrics, they just come right out and say it like with “Bite Your Chin,” “Kim Possible,” and “Get Hammered With You.” These lyrics really do not need any further explanation do they? I like this band, their sound, and the balls to just come right out and say what they feel in their lyrics, with not to mention some great loud music with hooks all over the place to bring it on home.

I think this band can go places if they keep things as they are, three members playing straight up hard driving punk rock music. Sometimes the only thing your heart desires is no frills and some good clean (well that is debatable) fun turned up as loud as it can go with the windows rolled down. Now that is unadulterated freedom through music and this band can deliver the goods.
